IT’S WHEAT FORAGE HARVESTING TIME IN NEW MEXICO – HERE’S WHAT THAT MEANS

Forage harvesting plays an important role in agriculture. Throughout the year, B&B Choppers takes on the task of harvesting different crops for dairy farms and family farms throughout the Pecos Valley as well as continuing to provide for Bogle LTD farms.  Currently we are in the process of harvesting wheat.

So what is wheat silage? Wheat silage is a popular feed option for dairy cattle. Thanks to several desirable characteristics, wheat, if properly paired with a balanced grained ration, can maintain high milk production. Which means better production for you! Wheat forage options can include haying or wheatlage . Haying is best harvested in the late boot stage before heading, while wheatlage works by delaying harvest until wheat is at the soft-dough kernel stage.

So what does B&B Choppers do? Each year when the different chopping (harvesting) seasons are upon us, we head out into the field to harvest the highest quality of silage in the region. We work hard to harvest and pack silage so that it can get to local farms throughout the Pecos Valley.

So if you see us out in the fields, make sure to give us a wave!
